Where, when and how in Copenhagen

 

Q: Can you buy anything to eat on the venue?

A: Yes, there will be different food stands next to the Opera House.

Q: Is there anything for children to do on the venue?

A: Yes. Among other things there will be a rodeo surf board available for children (or adults) next to the Opera House.

Q: Can I go SUP’ing during the event in Copenhagen?

A: Sure you can. The Danish Surf & Rafting Federation hosts Copenhagen SUP Crossing on the opening day of COPENCOLD HAWAII. The event is open for all. You can find more information about Copenhagen SUP Crossing on the DSRF website.

Activecopenhagen has made several event packages in connection with COPENCOLD HAWAII, so you can go local and at the same time enjoy the event. The SUP Enthusiasts (4 nights in DBL Room) and the SUP Enthusiasts (4 nights in dorm) packages, allow you to take part in multiple SUP events and socialize with other enthusiasts. The SUP Friends (4 nights in DBL room) and the SUP Friends (4 nights in dorm), is where you get to experience the main events of the championship and do some exploring on wheels or water.

Q: Is there anything else interesting I can do in Copenhagen?

A: But of course :) For instance, do as the Danes and experience the city on a bike on the The Must See Bike TourRunning Tours is another possibility: Stretch your legs, get your pulse up and have a fun run while getting an overview of Copenhagen. You can also go on a Kayak City Tour and experience Copenhagen from a different perspective. Other tours and meeting times are available. You can also rent a GoBoat. This isn’t a guided tour, but a wonderful experience all the same.

You can also choose to go on the famous canal tours, that give you the chance to experience the city and its beauty from the water. Another possibility is the Hop-On-Hop-Off busses.  

If you are visiting for several days, either alone or with friends and family, we recommend that you buy a Copenhagen Card. This gives you free admission to several attractions and public transport.

A: It depends on where you are coming from. There are several choices. We recommend that you go to Public transport by Google Maps (or travelplan.dk) to see the easiest way. Note that you can view and browse the timetable in the bottom of the search result in Google maps.

Q: I’ve heard that Copenhagen is a bike city. Can I rent a bike?

A: Indeed, the Danish bicycle-culture is as old as the bicycle itself. Baisikeli has several bikes in different categories and the price is very affordable. They are located at Ingerlevsgade 80 right next to Dybbølsbro Station which is a small walk away from Copenhagen central station. The alternative can be city bikes, which has docks all over CPH.

Q: Where can I park, if I go to the venue by car?

A: There are several places to park. Q park and Europark are close to the Opera House. Otherwise you can park on the other side of the harbor (across from the Opera House) at Jeudan parking house. It is also possible to park on some of the streets. Remember, you need to pay at the parking metres.

A: You can use public transport all the way from Copenhagen to Vorupør in Cold Hawaii or you can take a flight from Copenhagen to Aalborg and either: 

  1. Use public transport from Aalborg to Vorupør
  2. Use public transport to Thisted and a taxi from Thisted to Vorupør: call Dan Taxi: 0045 70 25 25 25 or 0045 97 92 04 22, or Book online (from Thisted to Vorupør [415 DKK]). 
  3. Rent a car in Aalborg airport.
  4. Rent a car in Copenhagen and drive from Copenhagen to Vorupør.

    A: ISA is an abbreviation for the International Surfing Association. ISA is the world governing authority for Surfing and thus also the World Championship in SUP and paddleboard (Prone), which is the championship that has been given the nickname COPENCOLD HAWAII in Denmark.     A: COPENCOLD HAWAII is a compilation of Cold Hawaii and Copenhagen, and it is the name that the ISA SUP and Paddleboard World Championship in Denmark has been given by the partners behind the event.

    A: Cold Hawaii is an area in the municipality of Thisted, more specifically the coastline from Agger in the south to Vigsø, north-east of Hanstholm.
